About the Art... In January, 2000 I started research on this on going project of illustrating the most important small arms of the 20th, and now the 21st, century. I began painting in March, after the first 300+ hours of research and photography, beginning with the ubiquitous HK MP5 Squirt Guns. I have personally selected each gun for its significance, uniqueness, oddity, rarity, or just plain old gun nut sex appeal. And, with only a few exceptions, I have laid hands on every one, field stripped, tested and taken my own reference photos. I have fired most of them in the field at one time or another, and some of my photographs are now over 30 years old and as rare, in their own way, as the firearms they depict. I've taken extreme care to be sure that each illustration of each piece is as accurate as I can make it, down to the last rivet, dimple and spot weld. Up to 100 hours of research and 30 hours of drawing and painting have gone into each of the final images. I draw the original line art with a steel point crowe quill pin in permanent India ink on the same 100% rag Strathmore Drawing Bristol that the Limited Edition prints are made on. I paint the color on optical prints in designer's color (Pelikan watercolours with a water, detergent, turpentine binder) to give them that deep, rich, marbleized color. Limited Editions are made in editions of 500 prints, hand signed and numbered. They are printed in UV stable black polymer ink on ivory museum grade 100% rag PH balanced 85# Strathmore, to duplicate the original pen and ink exactly. Size: 14"x18" Requests for specific print numbers are accepted when possible, but these small editions will sell out quickly, and when they're gone, they're gone. There will be no second editions, making each print a true collector's item. Color Prints are open edition 16 million color laser prints on satin or matte finish bright white UV resistant heavy stock. Both the Limited Editions and the larger Color Prints make great gifts for office, den or family room display. Black & White Prints are printed in black UV resistant ink on UV resistant heavy stock. These inexpensive, but highly detailed reproductions are ideal for over your loading bench, taped to your equipment locker, inside your gun safe, (You do have a gun safe, don't you?), or for the collector on a limited budget. Size: 8.5"x11" All prints are done in UV impervious inks, on UV stable paper, on our new large format Epson professional photo printer, in our new state of the art, in house, printing facility. Aquatintsare Limited Editions that I have hand painted in watercolour. I paint these to order, and they usually take about two - three weeks. Size: 14"x18" or matted and framed to 18"x24" You receive a small color print and personalized gift card, for immediate gift giving. Mugs are 15 ounce, American made on Chinese blanks. FDA approved vegetable die fired in an epoxy coating. They are dishwasher safe and UV resistant, and should look just as bright and clear, in ten years, as they do today. Not currently available in all titles. T-Shirts are subliminal fine line color reproduction on heather grey, heavy weight 50/50 fabric. Color and detail will last for dozens of washings.
